£40,000 donation to support homeless young people
Computershare Loan Services – which includes Zephyr Homeloans – and The Deposit Protection Service (The DPS) Charity Fund have donated £40,000 to help tackle youth homelessness in the UK.
This marks the fifth consecutive year of support for national charity Depaul UK, bringing the total donated since 2020 to £200,000.
The funding will help Depaul UK provide crisis intervention, safe housing, and mental health support to young people, as well as financial education and money management skills.
With rough sleeping in the UK rising by 20% in the past year, and a young person becoming homeless roughly every four minutes, supporting the charity is more vital than ever to help it deliver tailored, holistic services.
Sam Dunne, Head of Corporate Partnerships at Depaul UK, said:
“We are seeing increasingly high numbers of young people without a safe place to stay or a family network to fall back on seeking help from our services. This support from Computershare means we can respond to emergencies and help young people build stable, independent lives. We want homelessness to be something our clients pass through rather than something that defines them or their future.”
Andrew Jones, Chief Executive Officer at Computershare Loan Services, said:
“We are very proud to continue our support for Depaul UK at a time of high youth homelessness. Our support of the charity is very popular with our employees who are highly supportive of the important work it undertakes.”
Matt Trevett, Managing Director at The DPS, part of the Computershare Group, added:
“Depaul’s support for some of the most vulnerable in society at a key turning point in their lives is inspiring, and I’m very pleased we can again provide them with a donation.”
